Workshop
Facilitation Case Study
|
- An MNC Furniture Manufacturer
Situation:
Company C would like to include in its upcoming HR Dept. conference in Shanghai
a half-day session on issues related to East-West cultural differences and
action implications of such differences for the company. Some of the specific
objectives include: a sharing of experiences about the distribution in China,
Asia and globally; a discussion and insights into "Why and how it is
and is not like the West"; an informal environment conducive to discussion
and sharing of experiences from the international and diverse backgrounds
of the participants.
Solution:
MGP organized and facilitated a half-day workshop with three experienced facilitators,
led by Dr. Hora Tjitra who had years of cross-cultural research and business
experience with many multi-national companies in different countries. In the
half-day workshop, the three facilitators did an overview of cross-cultural
differences, a discussion of cultural management and leadership challenges
in China and Asia Pacific, the implications for the leaders of Company C in
and outside China, and finally a case study with particular emphasis on distribution
and cultural issues.
